Autism Day 2006

Jubilee Farm
Skiforall adaptive cycles in front of Jubilee Farm

King County Project Lifesaver attended their first Autism Day this year. Held at Jubilee Farm in Fall City, this free event is coordinated by Lynne Banki of Lifelight Books. The event brochure describes Autism Day as "...a casual, fun event designed for families touched by autism." While offering informal fun for the children it also gave parents a chance to learn about services available to them in the community.

The Adaptive cycles provided by Skiforall were a popular station for kids and their parents. These cycles give children, regardless of physical limitations or strengths a chance to be successful and have a great time. There were also hay rides and a slip n’ slide. Each information booth offered some free project or activity. Some of the activities included bubble fun, henna designs, stamping, coloring, games and toys. In the later part of the day, members from the Sammamish Symphony Orchestra performed short and recognizable classics.

Project Lifesaver was honored to be a part of such a fun and entertaining event. In addition to meeting the children and the parents we got a chance to meet some great organizations and individuals providing varied services. Click here for the list of organizations that participated and learn more about the great services they offer. See you at Autism Day 2007!
